John R. Crawford, a life-long resident of Frederick County, died at his residence, 126 West South street, Sunday night at nine o'clock, of general debility. He was 94 years old.

He was a son of the late Burton and Sarah Crummitt Crawford of Frederick county.

Mr. Crawford worked as a stone mason in the contracting business in his earlier years, and later was engaged in farming. He retired twenty-five years ago and has lived in this city since that time. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Mr. Crawford recalled many interesting incidents that occurred during the Civil War. During the battle of the Monocacy, he served as water boy for the troops. His wife, Mrs. Mary O'Brien Crawford, died about 17 years ago. He is survived by the following children: E. E. Crawford, Lansdowne, Pa.; Mrs. Roger Gordon, and A. L. Crawford, Frederick; J. T. Crawford, Silver Spring; W. A. Crawford and Mrs. Irving Shuffler, Frederick; Meredith Crawford, Braddock. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

An oldtime fiddler, Mr. Crawford played for many dances and entertainments and won several amateur contests.

The body is at the funeral home, 8 East Patrick street, where friends may call. Funeral services will be held there Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted. C. E. Cline and Son, funeral directors.
