Mrs. John B. Baird - Many friends and relatives attended the funeral on Friday afternoon of Mrs. John B. Baird a life-long resident of Fitzroy, who died at her home, 10th line of Fitzroy, on Wednesday morning, which was held at 2 o'clock to the United Church on the 9th line. Rev. R. C. Eakin, minister of St. James United Church, Carp, conducted the service and interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Baird was in her 62nd year. During the service Mr. Edwin Baird sang "The Old Rugged Cross, " The hymns sung were "Blessed Assurance," "What a Friend we Have in Jesus" and "Safe in the arms of Jesus." Miss C. Wallace was organist. Formerly Ida Evaline Groves deceased was born on the 6th line of Fitzroy, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Groves and 41 years ago married John Bradley Baird. She was a member of the United Church at Diamond and had many friends throughout the locality who keenly mourn her passing. Chief mourners and survivors were her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Craig of Pakenham, Aleta at home and Irene, teacher at Glen Tay, Ont; one son John Groves Baird of Kinburn, and five grandchildren, Lloyd, Wilmot, Mervyn and Eldon Craig and Ruth Eileen Baird; also surviving are two brothers, John W. Groves of Kinburn and William of Toronto,; two sisters, Mrs. H. E. Cooper of Renfrew and Mrs. Percy Harris of Ottawa. A profusion of beautiful floral tributes from personal friends, and others was an added tribute. The pallbearers were Robert Johnston and Gordon Cooper, Renfrew ; Arthur Groves, Ottawa; Arthur Smyth, James Campbell and Emery Humphries.
