John B. Baird - Fallbrook, May 8 - (Special) - following an illness of nearly 11 months John B. Baird died at the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth, in his 89th year. Born near Kinburn, February 7, 1869, Mr. Baird was the son of the late John Baird and his wife the former Jane Bradley of Fitzroy. He was the last member of the family of seven. On July 25, 1894 he was married to the late Ida E. Groves who predeceased him August 14, 1935. Mr. Baird was an honorary member of the Loyal Orange Lodge District No. 5 Fitzroy and visiting members conducted an impressive service the evening before the funeral. Surviving are three daughters (Evelyn), Mrs. Andrew Craig, Pakenham; () Mrs. Roy Needham, Pakenham; (Irene) Mrs. Charles Ennis, Fallbrook and one son, John G. Baird, Ottawa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral which was largely attended was held at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Carp, with Buried: in Diamond Cemetery, 9th line Fitzroy. Rev. W. H. Henley of Pakenham United Church, conducted the service. Mrs. Lloyd Craig, granddaughter-in-law of Mr. Baird sang "The Old Rugged Cross".
