Joseph Rehling passed away suddenly at his home in Josephine on April 7, 1941, at the age of 59 years, 7 months, and 27 days. He was born in Pine Island, Minn., on July 10, 1881, was baptized in the Methodist church. He lived in Pine Island until he was 15 years old, then came to North Dakota with his sister, Mrs. Wm. Neer.
In 1906 he was married to Myrtle Ann Harrington at Flora by Rev. W.E.A. Maddock. They lived at Flora for 18 years then moved to Josephine, residing there until the time of his death.
Ten children were born to this union, one daughter, Elsie, died in infancy. His parents, four brothers and three sister also preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and nine children: Mrs. Louis (Lila) Neil of Valley City; Mrs. Arthur (Ruby) Djoseland of Esmond; Mrs. Arthur (Melvina) Reppert and Joseph of Pine Island, Minn.; Vivian, Fred, Doran, Dorothy and Donald at home; nine grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Oberon with Rev. Wm. F. Reipschlager of Minnewaukan officiating. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ed Thompson, B.G. Kolsrud, John Kelly, Milo Matthews, Christ Larson and J.B. Ashford.
