Despite the engraving on the tombstone, census records for 1900 and 1920 indicate that he may have actually been born in August, 1890. In addition, public records from his children all state his birth date was Aug 4, 1890.

"Comes again the difficult task of paying tribute to a good friend and sportsman who died suddenly Saturday afternoon, bringing much grief and sorrow to his many relatives and friends. We are referring to Frank Boese of St. Cloud who fell victim to a heart attack about 3 pm Saturday while working at his favorite hobby, gardening. Ever since we came to St. Cloud seven years ago Mr. Boese has been one of our best friends and staunchest supporter of the sports pages of The Daily Times. He was an ardent sports fan, especially football, and traveled on several occasions as far as South Bend to see the Irish play some of their nationally-famous contests. He was also well known as an outstanding circus fan and we acknowledge having enjoyed his hospitality in this regard at the time Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey played here two years ago. Our sincerest sympathy goes to the bereaved ones in their loss."
