Martha Rath was born May 14, 1910, in Gackle, N.D., where she grew up and attended school.
On Nov. 3, 1933, she married Richard Burkle in Gackle. They farmed near Fredonia, N.D., until purchasing a farm near Gackle. In 1996 they entered Gackle Care Center. He died in 1997. She entered the Jamestown nursing center in January, 2000.
