He was the son of Rev. Michael Schenck. He was a native of Lancaster county, and came to this county in 1795 with his father and several other families, while there were yet few inhabitants along Bald Eagle Creek. He was a Mennonist in his religious principles, and an advocate of peace, piety, and virtue. He was hospitable and benevolent, always ready to assist the needy and afflicted. He married Susan Bechdel . They had eleven children; Mary married daniel Houser, Barbara married John Pletcher, Anna married Samuel Bechdel (Beachdel), Emanuel, Christian, Michael, Frederick married Mary Holter, Susanna married Christian Bower, Magdalena married Samuel Pletcher, Leah married George Speaker, Sarah (Sally) married Joseph Hall.
