Anna Schenck was born on October 6, 1775 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Michael Schenck and Magdalena Mennart and emigrated to the Bald Eagle Valley with her parents. On February 6, 1796, she married Henry Pletcher, who was an older widower with three known children, and moved to his farm. Henry died on November 14, 1803, of complications from being kicked in the stomach by a colt. At the time of his death, Henry and Anna had five children of their own, and Anna was pregnant with a sixth. Anna married Henry's nephew, Samuel Pletcher Jr., in 1804. Anna had five children with Samuel. Samuel died in 1811, leaving Anna as a 36-year-old widow to care for at least 11 children. Anna died on July 8, 1848 in Howard, Centre, Pennsylvania.

Henry, Anna and Samuel Pletcher Jr. were all buried on their farm which, in 1904, was a part of the Butler farm near Howard, in Centre County. In the fall of 1904, the graves were moved to the Schenck Cemetery. In 1967 the Shenck Cemetery was relocated during the construction of Sayers Dam. The graves originally had home-made markers of native mountain stone. In 1911 descendants of Henry Pletcher raised money to place a monument on his grave. Since that time, a newer monument dedicated to Henry, Samuel, Anna, Daniel and Jonathan Pletcher has been erected at the cemetery.
