Helen Christine Burton, 84, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Major Hospital.

Born July 19, 1925, in Somerset, Ky., she was the daughter of William and Laura (Estep) Eaton. She married Leonard Burton on Feb. 1, 1963, and he survives.

Other survivors include sons, James I. (wife, Missy) Smith of Shelbyville and Richard (wife, Janie) Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Debbie Freeman of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Troy Smith, Meghan Smith, Matthew Freeman, Errick Freeman, Cynthia Gragg, Dale Gragg and Philip Burnett; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and a daughter, Kathy Smith.

Mrs. Burton was employed as a machine operator at Admiral Corp. for 30 years.

She was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
