Charles L. Schoonover, 71, of 6826 W. Lancaster Road died Monday, March 16, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born May 4, 1926, in Middlegrove to Jesse and Tilda Failer Schoonover, he married Colleen M. Bennett on Oct. 9, 1949, in Brimfield. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Angela Merrick of Bartonville; one son, Rodney of Lander, Wyo.; one brother, Loyal of Canton; and one sister, Carrie Bohm of East Peoria. Two sisters preceded him in death.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he received two Bronze Stars. He worked at the former WABCO for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
