Born in Montreal, he was a private driver until 1915, when he took a job with the Montreal Fire Department as a driver of a horse drawn fire wagons. When the department upgraded to combustion engine vehicles, he became a driver. He would work there for twelve years. From 1928 to 1930, he became a truck driver for A&P Company. From 1930 to 1959, he was a conductor for the Montreal Tramway. During World War Two, he enlisted into the army and briefly served with the 3rd Division Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, but was discharged soon afterwards due to medical reasons. He passed away in 1961 at the age of 64. He was the husband of Aurore Pacquette, whom he married on April 24, 1916.
