Calvin E. Hake, 89, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at his home. He was born March 16, 1924, in Greensburg, a son of the late Luther and Rachel (Hixson) Hake. Prior to his retirement, he had been a locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of Harrold's Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, VFW Post 33, Greensburg, American Legion Post 981, South Greensburg, and the Roosevelt Club. He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was an Iwo Jima survivor and had received a Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. (Morrison) Hake, on Feb. 21, 2001; a daughter, Ann Kathleen Miller; four brothers, George, Glenn, Harvey and James; and two sisters, Florence and Frances. He is survived by his children, Glenn Hake and his wife, Sharon, of Kennett Square, Eleanor Rosatti and her husband, Greg, of Greensburg, and Richard Hake and his wife, Kelly, of Greensburg; a son-in-law, Robert Miller, of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Brinkley, of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg. Additional viewing will be held from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in Harrold's Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John M. Smaligo officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard
