Margaret Avis Meixner, 88, of Abilene, died Saturday, November 19, 2005.

Services will be held Monday, 2:00 pm, at St. Paul United Methodist Chapel with Greg Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St.

Mrs. Meixner was born February 19, 1917 in Thorndale, Texas to General Jackson and Margaret Galbreath. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She married Rev. Robert Harmon Meixner in 1940 in Georgetown, Texas. They served Methodist congregations in Avoca, Plains, Vega, Pampa - Harrah, Roby - Sylvester, Claude, McClain - Heald and Hawley, Texas. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Services. Avis was known for her art, her cooking, and her love for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by four sons; Harmon Meixner and wife Tanya of Lubbock, Jack Meixner and wife Bobbie of May, Ralph Meixner and wife Val of Ransom Canyon and Moody Meixner and wife Kay of Keller. One daughter; Oneta Jo Eubanks and husband Jackie of Stephenville. One sister; Lena Curtis of Ft. Worth. Thirteen grandchildren; Melanie Sechrist of Lubbock, Michael Meixner of Dallas, Marci Meixner of Lubbock, Mechelle Meixner of Knoxville, TN, Andy Meixner of Galveston, Sabina Knight of Breckenridge, Salina Brown of Salado, Ethan Eubanks of Bastrop, Micah Meixner of Lubbock, Zachary Meixner of Lubbock, Jessica Meixner of Lubbock, Kristina Mugg of Keller and Wes Meixner of Troy, MI. Thirteen great-grandchildren; Brice, Tatum, Phoebe, Wren, Quinn, Nikaela, Zane, Arin, Quade, Wrook, Kinley, Kenna Jo, and Connor.
