2.) U.S. Private, Company B, Pennsylvania 72nd Infantry Regiment, Charles Florence CARMAN (1842-1870) marries (and divorces?) Susannah Florence (Whartnaby) (Carman) RESTINE (1840-1899). Susannah remarries Frederick C. RESTINE (unknown-unknown) in 1868. The Pennsylvania 72nd fights at the Battle of Gettysburg at "The Angle" defending against Pickett's Charge. At this time, I do not know if Charles was present at Gettysburg.
3.) self, U.S. Private, Company A, Pennsylvania 20th Infantry Regiment (for 12 days), Sheppard Ogden CARMAN (1844-1865) marries Mary? Elizabeth S. B. (Cree) (Carman) (Shuster) HOHENSTEIN (1847-1917); they have one daughter Rebecca P. (Carman) HARTLEY (1866-1907) born after Sheppard dies. As a widow, Elizabeth remarries Philip SHUSTER (unknown-unknown/before 1889); they have one daughter Lillian U. "Lillie" (Shuster) VIRTUE (1879-1942). As a widow again, Elizabeth remarries Harry HOHENSTEIN (1859-1914).
4.) George S. CARMAN (1846-1914) dies at 68 years old from a trolley car striking his head. Is listed as a widower, but I cannot find whom he married.
5.) male, Florence Ogden CARMAN (1850-1918) marries Kate Elizabeth (Pindar) CARMAN (1852-1928); they have three sons.
6.) Annie (Carman) REIGNER (1852-unknown) marries Howard Y. RIEGNER (1848-unknown); they have five children.
7.) Charlotte A. CARMAN (1872-1877). May or may not be related. Her parents are listed as James H. & Rebecca CARMAN of 812 East Norris Street. Possible mother Rebecca was fifty years old in 1872, which is possible, but that address seems away from other known CARMAN addresses.

Sheppard (19) marries Mary? Elizabeth S. B. CREE (16). Sheppard works as a salesman, a Union soldier, a driver, then as a teamster. Sheppard's late residence is 513 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania, USA.

* Sheppard dies and is buried six months before the birth of his one daughter with Elizabeth:
1.) Rebecca P. (Carman) HARTLEY (June 18, 1866-April 10, 1907) marries Howard Jerome HARTLEY, Sr. (1868-1929). They have eight children. As a widower, Howard remarries Sarah J. (Goldschmidt) (Hartley) McVEY (1880-1952); Howard has two more children with Sarah. As a widow, Sarah remarries Joseph F. McVEY (unknown-unknown/before 1940).

* I am still trying to locate any family buried near Sheppard.

* Sheppard's parents and brother are buried together in a family plot in Mount Peace Cemetery, Philadelphia, (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania, USA, in Section K, Lot 139. There is also a Sheppard CARMAN listed as buried in this family plot which makes for two possibilities: 1.) Sheppard was removed and reburied with his parents, or 2.) Sheppard is still in Gloria Dei, and the Sheppard buried in Mount Peace was a nephew named in his honor.
