Elvis Leroy Brown was born December 20, 1925 in Mesa, Arizona to Elvis Jackson Brown and Sarah Alvira Hastings. He passed away peacefully in his home in Yuba City, California on January 20, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Oletha Craig Brown; 2 sons, Paul Brown of Lexington Park, Maryland and Larry Brown of Yuba City; grandchildren, Kathy, Brittany and Michael Brown; brother, Wayne Brown of Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and son, Elvis Brown, Jr.
Elvis spent most of his life in Utah and Colorado where he greatly enjoyed the outdoor life of fishing, hunting, camping and boating. He moved to California about 30 years ago, retiring in the Sutter area about 20 years ago. He was a mechanic, welder, pipefitter and worked in the oil fields, industrial construction, pipelines and road construction. If it was mechanical, he liked it and if it needed fixing, he wanted to do it. He served in the Navy for 3 years during World War II and saw action in the South Pacific.
Elvis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a kind and generous person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Sutter Cemetery, Sutter, California. There will be a viewing from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Holycross Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, California.
