Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2002 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN, for Henry Wessell Gross, age 85 formerly of 311 Wilson Avenue N.E., and Carter Place of St. Cloud, MN who died on Monday, March 18, 2002 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.

The Reverend Simon Bischof OSB will officiate.

Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Friday, March 22, 2002 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. St. Augustine's Parish Prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Henry was born on September 27, 1916 in Lastrup, MN the son of John L. and Gertrude (Kubiczek) Gross. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball, and during World War II he worked in the shipyards in Portland, Oregon. He married Marcella E. Rakotz on June 27, 1944 at St. Anthony, MN. They moved to St. Cloud in 1949 from Portland, Oregon. Four children were born to this union. Henry was a long time employee of the Pan O'Gold Baking Company in St. Cloud. He retired in 1977. He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud.

Henry is survived by: Two daughters Elaine Cotton and her husband Dan of St. Cloud, MN, and Mary Moe and her husband Terry of Fargo, ND, four grandchildren, and one sister Gertrude Gross of Pierz, MN.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by: His wife Marcella on October 10, 1986, one infant son and one infant daughter, nine brothers and sisters Alex, Alfred, Frank, Herman, Matthew, Reinhard, John, Agnes, and Laura.

Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home or the United Palsy of Central Minnesota.
