PROMINENT RETIRED FARMER DIES

George D. Cunningham Dies Last Thursday Morning at 74.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 3:30 from the home on Highway 68, near Kings Chapel, for George D. Cunningham, who passed away at the home early Thursday morning. He had been sick for about three weeks. Rev. Shirley Spahr, pastor of Cadiz Baptist Church, had charge of the last rites.

Mr. Cunningham was 74 years of age, having been born January 4, 1876, in Trigg County. He was a prominent farmer of the Mount Pleasant community until a few years ago when he retired and moved to his new home on the highway east of Cadiz.

On December 20, 1908, the deceased was united in marriage to Miss Pocahontas Cunningham, daughter of the late Alfred Perry Cunningham, who survives. There was one daughter born of this union, Mrs. Luther (Mary Grace)Thomas, who survives.

Other survivors are two grandsons, Luther Daniel and George Wesley Thomas; three brothers, Lock Cunningham, Crossville, Tennessee; Amos Cunningham, Collinsville, Illinois; and Levi Cunningham, Auburn, Kentucky; one sister, Mrs. Will (Modia) Payne, Grand Rivers, Kentucky, and a number of nieces and nephews. Another sister, Mrs. Davis (Florence) Cunningham, preceded him in death three years ago. Burial was made in East End Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Landis Cunningham, Don C. Harris, J.C. Humphries, Lucian Thomas, Billy Burke and Odell Noel.

Honorary pallbearers include James Guess, Jr, Granville Mitchell, D.Bruce, Homer Parrent, James Hendrick, Jasper Thomas, Claude Adams, James Thomas, Leslie Thomas, Tom Baker, Harry Rogers, Felix Baker, W.C. Broadbent, Marvin Baker, D. Leneave and John A. Washer.
