Dear Montel,

I want to thank you for your dedication to God's work. Through Jesus you are a very special person to Grace Baptist and to the people with whom you come in contact. I THANK GOD FOR YOU!

I have a request, if you would be so kind to honor it. Would you oversee my funeral?

I was born January 1, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia. I accepted the Lord as my Savior in Pooler First Baptist Church, Pooler, Georgia when I was ten years old. I had a special bond with the members of the church, my family were all members there as well. Sunday School, Church, Training Union, Choir member, Young Women of America "YWA's" and Vacation Bible School were all part of my growing up years. I played softball for the church league for about three years.

I worked for Chatham County Right of Way Supervisor in Savannah, Georgia as a Secretary for about 4 years. During that time, I met the "Love of My Life" (Robert James Lewis) when I was twenty. We married July 6, 1968 in Pooler First Baptist Church and after a short honeymoon trip to Florida, Bob brought me to Groton, MA where we settled.

I moved my letter from Pooler First Baptist Church to Groton First Baptist Church in 1968, and as time passed, there, our children grew up there. It was a special time working in the nursery on Sunday mornings, attending Sunday School, Church, Pioneers for the children, Vacation Bible School, and hosting home summer vacation bible school in the yard. It was a great privilege to be a student in Mrs. Dorothy Lusk's "Women of the Bible" Study. It gave me great pleasure to be part of the class and the fellowship with friends there.

Bob's family have all been very special to me as well. He is one of ten children, wonderful in-laws and beloved nieces and nephews; we always had family gatherings in the summers, in the fall, and at Christmas time – some of those gatherings were in our home until the family grew too large for everyone to fit comfortably!

I worked at Raytheon Co. from October 1968 to May of 1971. I quit work to welcome our first child.
When I was in labor with Erica, the nurse said to me, "Wouldn't you rather be on an island vacationing somewhere?" My answer to her was, "I cannot think of any place I would rather be than right here giving birth to my baby!" We brought up our four children (Each one so very special), Erica, Brian, Danielle and Owen with much love, kisses and affection. My life has been dedicated to my husband and my children all these years. They are all very special to me.

I feel that the Lord has so abundantly blessed me. I THANK HIM for every breath I have taken, for every beautiful thing HE has given me vision to see. I THANK HIM that I have had good health all these years. I THANK HIM that all of our children were healthy, and that Bob has been healthy as well. I THANK HIM SO MUCH for Loving parents and Grandparents. I THANK HIM SO MUCH that I was able to spend time with them and that I knew them for many years before they passed away.

I THANK THE LORD FOR MY DEVOTED HUSBAND of 46 years. He has always been willing to pitch in and help me for whatever reason. (I will always love you, Bob)!

I THANK THE LORD FOR Erica and Her Husband, Robert McLellan,
Brian Lewis and his wife, Kathleen,Danielle and her husband, Brian Hogan,Owen Lewis and hopefully a wonderful Christian wife for him.

My Grandchildren are so special to me – I love each one SO much. Caleb and Taylor McLellan, Sabrina and Sawyer Lewis, Michael and Joshua Hogan, and Seth Newell.

When Owen turned one year old, I was blessed with the opportunity to love and nurture other children as a licensed Child Care Provider for about 25 years.

My mother, Catherine DeWitt is 92 years old. My dad passed away in 2003 at age 87. I am the oldest of four children, My sister, JoAnn (Ellis) Bland, my brother, LeRoy E. (Wadelle B.) DeWitt, Jr. and my youngest brother, David A. DeWitt. I am blessed with wonderful nieces and nephews. They are all special to me as well.

YES, THE LORD HAS BLESSED ME ABUNDANTLY AND I AM SO THANKFUL THAT HE HAS GIVEN ME 69 YEARS ON THIS EARTH. AS I TRANSFER FROM THIS LIFE INTO HEAVEN, MY PRAYER IS THAT HE IS WAITING FOR ME WITH OPEN ARMS. I do not want my family to be sad, but I HOPE THEY WILL LOOK TO THE LORD TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR HIS GLORY, AND I PRAY THAT THE LORD WILL BLESS EACH ONE MIGHTILY!

This is just a note for you to see where I am coming from. I have always tried to live a life pleasing to God. I know that I could have done better, but no matter how good we are, we know that no one is perfect – only Jesus, and through the blood that HE shed for me, a sinner, and HIS SAVING GRACE, I AM SAVED.

Montel, please pray for me and my family. I would like the Lord's Invitation to be saved presented at my funeral. My prayer is that we will all be together again some day.
If you can do this for me, I would appreciate it so much.
May the Lord Bless you Abundantly Always,

Your friend and admirer,
Linda Lewis
