Willis E. Rinehart

SPRING GROVE - Willis E. Rinehart, 73, of Spring Grove, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at his home. He was the husband of Katherine E. (Frye) Rinehart.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery, with military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Rinehart was born Jan. 25, 1921 in Codorus Township. He was the son of the late Luther M. and Lettie E. (Krebs) Rinehart.
He was a truck driver for 42 years, retiring in 1979 from Mason-Dixon Lines, and later was a part-time employee at Wagner Cleaners and Formprest Cleaners in Glen Rock until 1993. He was a 1940 graduate of Codorus Township High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion in Central Europe and Rhineland.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, the Teamsters Local 430 Retirees Club, the Private Allen J. Beck Jr. Spring Grove Post 5265 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, the Friendship Hose Company, the York County Firemen's Association, the Spring Grove Historical Preservation Society, and the Spring Grove and Pennsylvania Fire Police Associations.
He was past president of the Jefferson Chapter 3699 American Association of Retired Persons and the Jefferson Community Lions Club, where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow, Lionism's highest honor.
Mr. Rinehart also is survived by three daughters; Darleen E. Loder, Pamela L. Flemmens, and Jacqueline A. Knaub, all of York; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Eric P. Wogen.
