Daisy Charlene McAllister passed away peacefully on Jan 4, 2014 after a long illness. She was born on March 8, 1929 at her grandmother's house in Alfalfa, Caddo County, Oklahoma, to Lewis Thomas Corron and his wife Velma Lucille Franks. They moved to California when she was a young girl and she attended Hamilton City Union High School. She married John Edgar McAllister in 1946. She worked for Paramount Farms, United Consumer Products of Kern and she retired from Casa Moore Carpet after working many years as their bookkeeper.
She began doing genealogy in the 1960's and loved to research her family's history. She shared her love of family history with others and has many "cousins" throughout the country who still quote her research. She was a member of Community of Christ Church, Kern Genealogy Society, and Camilla Society for many years. She loved to travel to the coast and took several cruises. She loved watching television crime shows, reading, and visiting with her family.
Charlene is survived by her children Barbara Long and George McAllister both of Bakersfield, a brother-in-law James McAllister of Palm Desert California and sisters-in-law Erma Corron of Orland California and Ilda Corron of Tracey California and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Sherrell, Darrell and Richard Corron and her sisters Fannie Mae Peacock, Betty Lou Darilek, and Billye Fox-Wieden.
The family wishes to thank Dr. William Bichai, Bakersfield Post Acute Care (Evergreen), and Procare Hospice. A private graveside service in planned.
