Obituary:
William H. ‘Buddy' Baxter
William H. "Buddy" Baxter, 77, of Valdosta died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Langdale Hospice House after a courageous battle with Myasthenia Gravis. Mr. Baxter was born in Hampshire, Tennessee to the late William Herbert and Louvenia Anderson Baxter and had lived in Valdosta for the past fifteen years. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where he was active in the visitation program and the Break Bread Program at First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Baxter was retired from the United States Postal Service and a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Fay Edwards Baxter of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Jane Baxter of Snellville, GA., Douglas and Patricia Baxter of Valdosta, one daughter and son in law, Mary Ann and Gregory Zimonopoulos of Port Orange, Fla., his grandsons, Brent Baxter, Kyle (Kaitlyn) Baxter, Jarryd Baxter, Brock Baxter, Theodore Zimonopoulos, Evan Zimonopoulos, Nicholas Zimonopoulos, his granddaughters, Kendall Baxter, Lauren Baxter and Sophia Zimonopoulos, his great grandson, Everett William Baxter, two nephews, Ronald Hines and Greg Hines both of Columbia, TN. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Hines of Columbia, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday, June 7, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Northside Baptist Church, 200 E.
