Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Curtis Dowdy, John Vaughan, and Wendell Robinson. Daniel Hines, Mrs. Hines' great-grandson, will participate by reading the 23rd Psalm. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Herbert Baxter, Sr. and Luvenda Anderson Baxter. She formerly
worked as a machine operator for the Tennessee Knitting Mills.
Mrs. Hines was a member of Graymere Church of Christ.
She was married November 9, 1946 to Floyd Edward Hines who preceded her in death August 26, 1992.
Survivors include her sons, Ronnie (Alice) Hines and Greg Hines of Columbia; grandchildren, Kevin (Stephanie) Hines of Mt. Juliet, Keith (Connie) Hines of Winchester, and Mary Allison (Matt) Katras of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Daniel Hines, Emma Hines, Jackson Hines, Christina Hines, and Hunter Hines; brother, W. H. "Buddy" (Faye) Baxter, Jr. of Valdosta, Georgia; a niece and two nephews; and her beloved dog, "Smokey."
Active pallbearers are Lloyd Baxter, Jr., David Baxter, Randall Baxter, Wayne Garner, Jerry Hines, Mark Hines, and Doug Garner. Honorary pallbearers include Glenn Kinnard, Herman Hanvy, Jr., Dr. Charles Ball, Joel London, Dr. Darrell Rhinehart, Elders and Deacons of Graymere Church of Christ, and NHC Columbia Staff.
