ORK Richard "Rich" L. Arnold, 82, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Beaverson) Arnold, with whom he celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on February 11, 2013.
Mr. Arnold was born in York, on October 5, 1931, son of the late Carl O. and Malinda C. (Dietz) Arnold.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1960 he was employed by Rutter's Dairy, Inc. as a delivery man, and retired after 30+ years of service as a supervisor. His memberships include Shiloh United Church of Christ, where he served as an deacon and elder, was a member of the men's chorus, taught Sunday school, and played on the golf league. In addition, he was a member of Shiloh Lions Club, Lions International; a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award; member of the 25 Year Club of Rutter's Dairy, Inc.; and the Trucker Ministry (Carlisle). Rich enjoyed playing golf and baseball. One of his proudest moments was when he played baseball against Brooks Robinson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Mickey E. Arnold and his wife, Bonnie of Windsor, Michele E. Bollinger and her husband, Joseph of Dover, and Matthew W. Arnold and his wife, Kay of Dover; 10 grandchildren, Jaymie M. Sanders and her husband, Brian, Miranda L. Arnold, Nate P. Arnold, Zachary S. Arnold, Mariah K. Rodriguez and her husband, Daniel, Seth A. Arnold, Catherine J. Scheetz and her husband, Christopher, Jennifer E. Bollinger, Abby K. Imboden and her husband, Nathan, and Kaitlyn J. Arnold; four great-grandchildren, Devyn J. Sanders, Skylar J. Sanders, Daniellah J. Rodriguez, and Gabriel N. Rodriguez; five brothers, Carl D. Arnold of Jacobus, Robert L. Arnold of Lancaster, Marvin L. Arnold of Lancaster, Theodore E. Arnold of Jacobus, and George E. Arnold of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodger E. Arnold and Donald B. Arnold. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, York. Officiating will be Interim Pastor Patricia Mullen and Visitation Pastor Elmer Scofield.
Final resting place will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York, with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Apple Hill Medical Center, Attn: York Cancer Care Center, 25 Monument Road, Suite 294, York, PA 17403-5049; or to Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, York, PA 17408. Arrangements were entrusted to the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., York (Shiloh,).
