Gay Barnett Jordan, 77, a piano and music teacher, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her home.

Funeral: 10 a.m., Wednesday at Thompson?s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. The Rev. David P. Mann will officiate. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Thomas D. Jordan and Gay Barnett Jordan Memorial Fund at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Gay Barnett Jordan was born to William L. and Thelma Roxy Barnett on April 27, 1927, in Rangerville. She graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School and Piedmont College and received a master?s degree from the school of music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Gay dedicated much of her life to aiding her husband in his ministry with her own music ministry, serving as teacher, composer, director and pianist, knowing full well that "music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory."

Widow of the Rev. Thomas D. Jordan, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Morris, James and Bentley Barnett.

Survivors: Children, Gaylan Jordan Mann and Thomas Barnett Jordan; grandchildren, Jordan Mann and Miranda Mann; brother, Ray Barnett; twin sister, Fay Drew; and sisters, Almalu Barber and Elizabeth Lively; and nieces and nephews.
