GASTONIA — James Otto Grigg, 76, died Thursday, November 15, 2001, at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC.

He was a native of Gaston County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey A. and Lula C. Carroll Grigg; son, Jeffrey Grigg; brother, Steve Grigg; sisters, Lucille Burroughs, Thelma Robinson.

He trained with the FBI in Quantico, VA before going to the South Pacific. Mr. Grigg served 3 Christmases in South Pacific during WWII as a Sergeant and a sharpshooter for the United States Marine Corps. He was a self-employed contractor of Gastonia for over 40 years and one of the 1st premier, detailed custom homebuilders. He was a conversationalist and loved people.

SURVIVORS: Wife and companion, Margaret Grigg; mother of children, Betty Stewart Grigg; sons and daughter-in-law, James Benjamin Grigg of Cornelius; David Scott and Pamela Grigg of Gastonia; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Kay Grigg & Rev. W.M. Hoss of Burlington; Catherine "Cathy" Grigg Rednour of Blacksburg, SC; Beverly Ruth Grigg Ferrante of Anthony, FL; Angela and Scott Wester of Savannah, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray A. & Louise Grigg of Bessemer City; Bobby Carroll and Loretta Grigg of Belmont; Joe N. & Claudia Grigg of Gastonia; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Gastonia; Margaret and James Dorsey of Gastonia; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
