MUNDY—Suddenly Saturday evening, Sept. 4, 1954, at a local infirmary, Hugh Cordell Mundy, aged 50 years. Survived by widow, Mrs. Marie Mundy of Richmond, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Sam Reasonover and Mrs. Robert Hayes of this city, Mrs. Bertha Givens, Mrs. Robert Angel and Mrs. Norman Angel, all of Carthage, Tenn.; three brothers, Fran and Stanton Mundy of this city, and Estes Mundy of Gallatin, Tenn. Remains were at the funeral home of Phillips-Robinson company where funeral services were conducted this Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock by Brother C. H. Rosaland. Active pallbearers: Kenneth Hall, Ray Angle, Edgar Angle, William Angle, Roy Givens, Ben Givens, Bill Mundy, and Arthur Angle. Interment Gallatin cemetery. Phillips-Robinson company directors. Plumber Slain, Hit With Brick; East Nashvillian Reportedly Provoked Fight With Friend

An East Nashville plumber was smashed on the head with a brick last night after he reportedly provoked a fight with a friend, and was dead before he reached General hospital.
Hugh Cordell (Jack) Mundy, 50, of 205 South Fourth st., was carried to the hospital after he was hit.
Jesse Lawson, 41, of 304 South Fourth st., who fled the scene but later turned himself in to the county and city authorities, told Jim Richardson, special investigator for the district attorney, that he hit Mundy after being threatened with a knife....
A native of Smith county, Mundy had lived in Nashville about 25 years. He was employed by the Radnor plumbing company. (The Tennessean, Nashville, Tennessee, 05 Sep 1954, Sun, page 1,2)
