Known to family and friends as Sis, Grandma, Grandma Peaches, Dottie, Miss Dotty, and Miss Dolly.

Daughter of Harold Lawton and Edna Shields.

Sister to Unnamed Infant boy, Earl Eugene and his wife Lillian, Hattie Harris and husband John Harris Sr, Robert, Jack, Pat, and Brenda.

Wife of
Richard Scovill Sr.

Mother of Richard Jr., and Risa.

Grandmother of Sherry, Jill, Jeff, and Kim.

Great-Grandmother of Sean, Eric, Thomas, Lindsey, Joshua, Harrison, Ashley, Hamilton, and Olive.

Grandma and Grandpa loved to travel and belonged to a club that traveled all over the US. When Grandpa developed heart problems, that pretty much ended the traveling. Grandma used to babysit infants at her home so she could take care of Grandpa as well.

Most of her backyard was a garden, she grew every vegetable you can imagine, and as each one was ready to be picked, you can expect to get a sackful.

She called everyone "kiddo" no matter their age (I really miss hearing her say that when I walked in).

She always had at least one dog that she spoiled tremendously! For the past 6 years, she had 2 dogs. When my niece and nephews were little, Grandma had a poodle called "Peaches." It was too much for the little kids to say "Grandma and Peaches" so she quickly became "Grandma Peaches."

We always had a saying about Grandma because she knew about everyone and would spend as much time as she could, telling you about everyone. "Telegraph, Telephone, and tell-a-Grandma." And she had every disease or medical problem known to man. If she heard someone had something and what the symptoms were, she had it. She called me once and told me she was having prostate problems, and when I said something to her about it, she said she was older and knew what she was talking about, and she had it!

Grandma loved everyone, and loved them unconditionally. She didn't care if you had problems or if you did something wrong, she loved you anyway, and was always quick with a hug and kiss. She loved her Grandkids and Great Grandkids. They were her life. She always picked them up a little something no matter where she went. Grandma was a garage-sale queen! She bought stuff she just knew her great-grandkids would like, and she bought stuff to have on hand just in case someone in the next century might possibly need one of those. (We are now attempting to sort out all those valuable items!)

Whenever you would go to her house, she always wanted to feed you. If you brought her food, she would split it between herself and her dogs, Toby and Tina.

Grandma was just one of those people that you immediately loved as soon as you met her. That was the kind of person she was!

In February of 2005, she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. For the next few months, she would get better, then get worse, back and forth. At the end of May, we moved her out of the nursing home into an Independent living apartment. She was there for 17 days when she fell and broke her hip. Back to the hospital and nursing home. She never really gained her strength back, but had been doing much better when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. At the end of September, she was brought home and had round the clock nurses. She very peacefully left this world and joined her family in heaven.
