John H. Roach was the second child of James Howard Roach and Harriet Martin Roach. The family moved to Keokuk, IA in 1894, where John entered an insurance business with his father. In 1910, the family moved to Blessing, TX, where John worked as a bookkeeper and teller for the Blessing State Bank. There he met his wife, Maude Spencer Clark, who he married Dec. 8, 1915.
