Gale D. Chase, age 78, of Winona, MN, died on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Lake Winona Manor. He was born on February 22, 1932, in La Crosse, WI, to Bernard and Winifred (Coon) Chase. On November 28, 1953, he married the love of his life, Janice M. Kulas, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Gale worked for Badger Construction Equipment (Warner Swasey) as a spray painter. Family was extremely important to Gale. He loved family get-togethers and fun; especially Halloween parties and decorating for holidays. He enjoyed listening to country western music, George Jones and Nashville. His lifetime hero was John Wayne. Gale also enjoyed playing his harmonica, dancing, playing cards and Scrabble (with his "cheat sheet"), watching game shows and selling at flea markets. He is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Dennis Chase, Sue (Orlo) Meyer, Pat (Dan) Donahue and Lisa (Lonnie) Larson; grandchildren, Adam (Dana) Meyer, Joe (Jackie) Meyer, Oscar (Jenna) Donahue, Tanya (Matt) Hoarn, Brian (Michelle) Donahue and Richard (Katie) Orlikowski; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Olivia, Hannah, Caidan, Camden, Cael, Troy, Austin, Chase and Cameron; brother, Bill (Bev) Chase; sisters-in-law, Barbara (George) Ewing and Chris Kulas; very special friends, Ev & Bob Gaul; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends. Gale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie and Dick; infant sister, Virginia; mother-in-law, Gert Luksa; brother-in-law, Len Kulas; granddaughter, Amanda Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Quinn, Jaden and Caitlin. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.
The Reverend James Purdham will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 4 PM until 8 PM, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, on Thursday, July 29, from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be Gale's grandsons, Adam, Joe, Brian, Richard and Matt; and special friend, Donny Lilla.
