Wendell was born in Pendant d'Oreille on February 8th, 1922, the youngest child of Olaf and Laura Stromsmoe. In 1926 the family moved to Etzikom where, apart from six years of service in Europe during WWII, Wendell spent the rest of his life in various occupations. He especially enjoyed his many years of raising quarter horses. He was an original "character" who marched to his own drummer and loved making people laugh.
Wendell bequeathed his body to the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held in Etzikom later this year. Memorial gifts in Wendell's memory may be made to the Bow Island Continuing Care Centre.
