Orlue was born on December 27, 1911 in Climax, Minnesota to Olaf Manfred and Laura (Bangen) Stromsmoe. The family moved to Pendant d'Orielle, Alberta in 1912 when Orlue was three months old, and then to Etzikom, Alberta in 1826. Orlue married Earl Sergeant in 1930. Soon after they settled in Calgary, AB, where all their children were born except for Billie who was born in Rock Creek, B.C. In 1951, Earl bought a blacksmith shop in Claresholm,Alberta, which they operated until 1973 when it was sold and the site is now the Macleod Savings & Credit Union.

Orlue was predeceased by her husband, Earl, in 1986, three of her brothers, Allan, Waldo and Jerome Stromsmoe, and one sister EthelSergeant. She was also predeceased by two of her children, Billie (Ryan) 1972and Laura (Conley) 1998.

Orlue will be sadly missed by her two remaining siblings, Phyllis Hobbs, Campsie, Alberta, and Wendell Stromsmoe, Etzikom, Alberta, her surviving children, Jim Sergeant (Claire), Medicine Hat, AB, Joan Sergeant and Diane Wildeman, Claresholm, Alberta, Charles Sergeant, B.C., Grace Stromsmoe, Lethbridge, AB, Olive Purcell, B.C. Orlue is also survived by thirty grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Leyden's Funeral Home Chapel of Remembrance, 4079 First Street, West, Claresholm, on Thursday, April 5, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Wes Dyck officiating. Interment will follow the Claresholm Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Willow Creek Auxiliary Hospital and Nursing Home. Lethbridge Herald, April 5, 2000
