Ahna Marie Johnson, 56, of Caledonia, formerly of Spring Grove, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Lancer House in La Crescent, MN after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 22, 1957 in La Crosse, WI, to Allen and Lydia (Opsahl) Johnson. Ahna attended Caledonia Public Schools and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.

Ahna worked at the DAC and Woodland Industries in Caledonia as well as UW-La Crosse food service. She was proud of the work she performed and earned the Ability Building Center (ABC) WOW Award at the 2007 annual employee recognition banquet in Rochester.

Ahna had a deep love of music. She enjoyed singing in the Caledonia High School choir and Trinity Lutheran Church choir. She also enjoyed listening to her radio and many CDs.

Ahna enjoyed many activities in her life including shopping and hitting all the local garage sales. She enjoyed bus trips to Vancouver and Branson with her parents as well as many trips with her fellow ABLE, Inc. (A Brighter Living Experience) friends. She was also a loving cat owner for many years.

Ahna is survived by her siblings Marilyn Johnson of Spring Grove, MN, David (Judy) Johnson of Holmen, WI, Julie (Dennis) Dahl of St. Paul, MN and Sara (Michael) Cedarblade of Pepin, WI; nieces and nephews; and many ABLE. Inc. friends and caregivers.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m., Trinity Lutheran Church, in Spring Grove.

The family suggests that donations be directed to ABLE, Inc., 1700 Lancer Blvd., La Crescent, MN.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Michele Rein, Dr. Rifat Elkhatib and the Mayo Clinic Healthcare System for their guidance and support. A huge thank you goes out to the staff and caregivers of ABLE, Inc. and Houston County Social Services for their loving guidance, comfort and care of Ahna over the past 33 years.
