Olive Best, daughter of Finley and Ada Best, was born March 23, 1976, at Belleville, Dane County, Wisconsin. She received her education there and was married on September 13, 1896 to Olamp Carteron at Belleville.

To this union five children were born. They made their home in Belleville after their marriage. Then for a year resided in Iowa, returning to Belleville in 1902. In 1914 they came to Clark County, settling on a farm north of Greenwood, where they lived for six years. In 1920 they moved on the farm south of Greenwood, now occupied by their son Vivian and family. In 1930 they moved to Greenwood where her husband passed away December 18,1946, and her daughter Una on April 6, 1934.

Mrs. Carteron passed away January 11, 1949 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, where she had been a patient since October 25, 1948. She reached the age of 72 years, 9 months and 19 days.

She is survived by four sons, Vivian, Eugene and Neale, all of Greenwood, and Lester, Vesper. A daughter, Eunice, preceded her in death, being killed in April 1934. Six grandchildren also survive.
