Anna Maria Andreae was born August 20, 1881, on the homestead of her parents, Isidor and Catharine Fliehler at St. Sebald, Iowa. Her parents, who were members of the St. Sebald congregation sent her to confirmation instruction under Rev. Fuehr, the pastor of the church at that time. She was confirmed with her class in the spring of the year 1895.
Following her confirmation she worked for several of her relatives until she was married to Sebald Conrad Andreae on the 4th of October, 1906. Both began farming on the place which until now remained their home. Their union was blessed with three children: two daughters and one son.
Our deceased sister seemed to be in good health, until a week ago when she became violently ill necessitating her removal to the hospital at Oelwein where an operation was performed. Although having withstood the operation successfully and showing good cause for hopes of a complete recovery she was overtaken by death the same night at about twelve o'clock, December 20, 1935. She attained the age of 54 years and four months. All her life she has been a faithful and active member
of the St. Sebald church and the congregation loses one of its most faithful members. In the home she was a loving wife and mother, always caring for her loved ones and her loss is keenly felt by her family.
On Friday the evening after her operation she fortified herself against all eventualities by receiving the blessud sacrament of Holy Communion. And living and dying in the faith of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, there is all just reason of hope for her eternal salvation.
Her untimely death is mourned by her husband who loses in her a very devout and faithful wife, by her three children, Lottie (Mrs. Carl Schmidt) of Strawberry Point, Iowa; Ruth, employed as secretary in the Lutheran Homes at Muscatine, Iowa, and Herbert, still at home. There are also six sisters and two brothers, Emma (Mrs. Gottlieb Greasch), Elizabeth
(Mrs. John Huebsch), Pauline (Mrs. Fred Schuchmann), all of Strawberry Point, Iowa; Mary (Mrs. Paul Busse) of Seattle, Washington; Amelia (Mrs. Frank Preuss) of Volga City; Sophia (Mrs. George Mandeville) of Oelwein, Iowa; and Christian Fliehler and Gottlieb Fliehler of Strawberry Point, Iowa.
Her twin sister, Kathern (Mrs. Carl Huebsch) and another sister, Christina (Mrs. Peter Schug) preceded her in death several years ago.
