BAMBERG - Alvin N. Cooler, 68, a retired Bamberg County employee, died Friday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Springtown Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Cooner Funeral Home, will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Cooler was born in Jasper County, a son of Walter D. Cooler and Naomi Hodge Cooler. He was a member of Springtown Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Hiott Cooler; two daughters, Faye C. Settle of Simpsonville and Brenda C. Jackson of West Columbia; three sons, A.N. "Tooley" Cooler Jr. of Myrtle Beach and Howard F. Cooler and David W. Cooler, both of Bamberg; six sisters, Ann Vaughn and Betty Croft, both of Bamberg, Carrie Carroll of Norway and Essie Williams, Nettie Ruth Carrigg and Eula Mae Garrick, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Buck Cooler and Brad Cooler, both of Bamberg, Danny Cooler of McClenny, Fla., and James Cooler of Opp, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
