He was born June 20, 1914, in Cary, to William and Sophia (Demhlow)Schwemm. On May 7, 1949, he married Dorothy Nordmann at St. Joseph Lutheran Church in Elgin.
He had lived and farmed in the Crystal Lake area and had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.
Survivors include a brother, Gordon Schwemm of Elkhorn, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Marion Anderson of Ingleside and Viola Schwemm of Crystal Lake; and five nieces and nephews, Jean Johnson, Warren Schwemm, Marlene Kaliohi, Douglas Schwemm and Kay Kinkelmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on June 19, 2004; six brothers; and two sisters.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, until the 11 a.m. funeral at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The Rev. Tom Tews, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
