Anna Roderick Humphreys was born in Warrior Run,Luzerne County, Pennsylvania to George and Mary Evans Roderick. The family moved to Blue Springs, Gage County, Nebraska in 1885. She attended Maple Grove School District #143 and graduated with an eighth grade education in 1896. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator in her adult years before marriage. On June 15, 1910 she married John Humphreys in Blue Springs,Nebraska and moved into a new farm home South of Wymore, Nebraska. To this union three children were born. Anna had been brought up in the church and made sure her children attended church regularly. She was involved in many church activities. Anna was a small woman in stature and had dark hair and blue eyes. She passed away at 49 years of age leaving two of her children still in high school.
