CARRIE HOWE WHEELER
GREENWAY - Mrs. Carrie Howe Wheeler, 91, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Stuart Caddick, 732 N. James St., Rome, this morning at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Wheeler has been staying with her daughter since becoming ill, Dec. 3.
She was born in Coldwater, Michigan, June 10, 1863, the daughter of Charles C. and Sarah Gray Howe. She came to Oneida County to live with her parents at the age of three.
In February 1884, at the home of her parents in Westmoreland, she was married to Fred B. Wheeler and the couple moved to the Wheeler homestead near Greenway where she has since resided. Mr. Wheeler died there Nov 4, 1940.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome and the Oneida County Historical Society.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E. Stuart Caddick, Rome; Mrs. G. Allen Hendey who resides on the homestead near Greenway; Mrs. A. Frank Wesley, Mount Vernon; and Mrs. William F. Curtis of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Jack Wheeler Caddick, Kingston, R.I.; Mrs. David Kenyon, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren. There are also a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles C. Howe, Rome; two nieces, Mrs. Charles Bradt, Ithaca, and Mrs. Roy M. Salm, Verona.
Funeral services will be held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Stuart Caddick, Friday with the Rev. P. E. Radford, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment made in the Verona cemetery.
