She was born on 10 augustus 1896 as Aagje voor de Wind (which means: Downwind) in Rotterdam, very likely aboard of her father's ship, daughter of skipper Pieter voor de Wind and Aafke Jansen.

Her father Pieter voor de Wind, freight skipper, died in 1907 at the age of 43 years. He had then domicile in the seaport city of Delfzijl, in the northeastern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen. Her mother
Aafke Jansen died in 1926 in the city of Groningen at the age of 64 years.

Aagje Voordewind (18 y, no occupation) arrived on 24 August 1914 on the SS Noordam at the port of New York, Ellis Island, together with Reina Groot (22 y, no occupation) and the family of Herman van der Tuin (27 y, painter), all from Groningen and with Chicago as destination. In 1909 they were in Chicago too.

Agnes Voordewind married on 21 November 1917 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 21 years to the one year older Berend alias Barney Auwerda, who was born in Holland too.

In 1920 Agnes Ruwerda (!! 23 y), her husband Barney Anwerda (! 24 y, immigrated in 1896) and their daughter Theresa G Ruwerda (!! 1 y, born in Illinois) lived at a rented home in Cicero, just west of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In 1930 Agnes (33 y), her husband Barney Auwerda (34) and their children Theresa G (11, born in Illinois), Peter A (7, Illinois), Nicholas C (5, Illinois) and Gertrude E Auwerda (0, Illinois) lived at the home of his father Nickalas Auwerda (72, widower) in Berwyn, just west of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Daughter Theresa G was born on 16 September 1918 in Cicero and daughter Gertrude Eleanor was born on 1 August 1929 in Oak Park in Berwyn Township.

Agnes died in 1937 at the age of about 40 years and was buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, just west of Chicago.
