She grew up in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Hanna on August 6, 1939 at the First Church of Christ in Spencer. To this union one son was born, Thomas Ray Hanna. She actively farmed with her husband until his death in 1962. She later married Kermit Grasmon and made there home in Willmar, Minnesota. In 1981 they moved to Shenandoah to be near her son and family.
She always loved the farm and ran a tractor doing field work right alongside her husband. She was a member of the Riverton Township Club and received many winning entries at the Clay County Fair for her famous angel food cake. She later enjoyed the lakes of Minnesota and Canada, where she became quite a fisherman. She also enjoyed her secretarial work for 25 years at Ag-Pro in Shenandoah. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women organization and a member of St. Mary's Church in Shenandoah since 1994. Her hobbies included reading, fishing, cooking and spoiling her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Kenneth Hanna and Kermit Grasmon, siblings Ray Droll, John Droll, Molly Matricia, and Nancy Reynolds. She is survived by her son, Tom Hanna and wife Sue of Shenandoah, grandchildren Beth (Mike) Flott of Omaha, Joe (Tocia) Hanna of Des Moines, and Tommy Hanna of Shenandoah, great- grandchildren Ben, Ethan and Laila, sisters Peggy McFarland of Indianapolis and Evelyn (Vernon) Helt of Dakota City, Nebraska, sisters- in-law Lois Werts of Spencer and Pat Droll of Hartley, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
