Violet Helen Townsend, 81, of Pulaski died on November 22, 2013 at her home. Funeral services were held yesterday at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Jeff Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Good Springs, Alabama. She was born on January 12, 1932 in Anderson, Alabama to Alex and Della Florence (Hunt) Cates. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ollie Jones and Hestel Howard Townsend; her daughter, Beverly Melissa Howard; her brothers, Cecil Alex Cates and Louis Junior Kates; her sister, Edna Pauline Williams; and her half brothers, Ashford Leo Cates, Robert Cates, and Rufus Cates. Survivors include her son, Stanley Brent Jones of Bowling Green, Kentucky; her brother, John Noah Cates of Decatur, Alabama; her sister, Susie Lee White of Florence, Alabama; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
