In May of 1968 he married the former Peggy J. Burns. They joined their two families together and were later blessed with two daughters of their own; eventually raising a total of 13 children.
George is survived by his loving wife Peggy and by children, Edward (Kathy) Hiar, Jerry Hiar, Ron Hiar, James (Marie) Hiar, Kathy Hiar, Georgia Litzner and Dixie Hiar; and step-children are, Michelle (Mark Scott) Ranville, James Scoon, Marshall Scoon, and Michael Scoon.
