Margaret Sheran was born to Peter and Bridget Ellen (Mullaney) Sheran in Port Henry, New York before her parents came to Minnesota in 1865. They homesteaded in Freedom Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Bridget's two sisters, Mary Anna and Margaret as well as her twice widowed mother also settled in Waseca County at that time. Margaret was the second of 8 children. She studied at Mankato Normal School and was a teacher until her marriage to Walter Sanders Nov 29, 1900 in Nicollet County. She and Walter resided on a farm in South Bend, Blue Earth County. She died in Rochester of ovarian cancer. She is buried alone in Calvary Cemetery.
