Vivian E. Varvitsotis, 79 of Vestal passed away with her family at her side on Friday, September 7, 2012.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 56 years, Constantine "Gus" Varvitsotis. She was born in Hornell, NY to Amy and George Skelton.

She was a graduate of Johnson City High School in 1950 and a 1953 graduate of C.S. Wilson Hospital School of Nursing. Vivian was a dedicated nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Elizabeth Church Manor and retired after 23 years fronm Binghamton University Health Services.

She was a strong advocate for her son Jimmy, who has benefited from his many years at Broome Day Treatment at Chester B. Lord School. She was an active committee person for J.C.H.S. 50 year Club. She greatly enjoyed her nursing alumni (friends for life).

Vivian and Gus enjoyed many years of camping and travel with their Coachman Club. Vivian was the master of many crafts. She enjoyed painting, quilting, sewing and crocheting.

She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Vestal.

She is survived by her loving family, Mike and Darlene, Cecily and Andrew Varvitsotis, Connie and Bill, Billy and Kate Winters, Jimmy Varvitsotis, her sib1ings, Sandra and Ed Moss, George and Diane Skelton, Mary and Chuck Rehfeldt; many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Monday at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell.

The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
