Emma Belle Bowman was born in 1864 to Jacob Bowman and Mary Ann "Polly" Mozingo. She was married twice. She first married a widower, James Wilson Crubaugh, on 21 Sep 1882 in Bloomington, IL. Emma had seven children with James Crubaugh. She reportedly deserted James and the children and married Andrew Cashill on 18 Aug 1902 in St. Clair County, IL. She had 3 children with Andrew Cashill.

The following bio is excerpted from the book - "Crubaugh, the American Story" by William Leon Crubaugh, Jr.

Sometime early in the 1880s, James Wilson Crubaugh, a widower, employed a young girl from a neighboring family, as a live-in maid and housekeeper, to help look after his children. There was quite an uproar caused when James W. married that young girl, in September of 1882. The wedding occurred on the 21st at Bloomington, in McLean County. It was officiated by J.A. Fulwiler, J.P., and witnessed by P. Gutherie. James Wilson Crubaugh's second wife was Emma Belle Bowman. She was a daughter of Jacob Bowman and Mary Ann Mozingo. Her father was a native of Kentucky, and her mother, also known as "Polly", was born in Ohio.
On the marriage application, James W. declared his age as 40, when he actually was 41 years old. He stated that he was a farmer living at Old Town. Emma declared her age to be 18 years, single, and never previously married. (Another record indicates she was born on March 26, 1866. So, she was either 16 or 18 years of age when married.) She was born in Montgomery County, Indiana, at Waynetown.
The union of James and Emma Belle produced 7 children, all of whom were born in McLean County. They were: Millard Fillmore, born July 14, 1884; Oscar Sherman, born January 15, 1886; Florence Edna, born July 17, 1888; Clara Mae, born May 24, 1890; Leonard (Otto), born February 1892; Bertha Belle, born November 4, 1894; and Dewey, born September 1898.
Sometime, not long after the birth of Dewey, Emma ran away from home, deserting her husband and children. On April 14, 1902, she gave birth to a daughter, Ellen Mary, in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. The father of the child was Andrew Cashill. Without the benefit of divorce from James, Emma Belle was married to Andrew, on August 17, 1902, at East St. Louis.
Andrew was born in Ireland on October 1, 1864. The surname of his father was McCall. His mother's maiden name was O'Cashill. Both were Irish natives. For some reason, Andrew took his mother's maiden name and changed it to Cashill when he migrated to America.

To all who inquired of her first husband, Emma simply replied, "He died in a flood."
Emma and Andrew had two more children, both born in East St. Louis: Emma Belle, aka Ella Connie Cashill, was born on February 12, 1905; Andrew Edgar Cashill was born on October 29, 1911.
Ellen Mary Cashill was married on November 24, 1921, to George John Prader.
They had three children. Ellen Mary died on July 9, 1972.
Emma Belle, aka Ella Connie, was twice married, first to Clifford Holland, and then to Otis W. Lacy. She had three children. Last known as Connie Lacy, she died on April 24, 1977, at Rockford, Illinois.

Andrew Cashill, husband of Emma Belle, died April 20, 1931, at the age of 66 years.
He was buried at the Mount Carmel Cemetery at Belleville, in St. Clair County.

Emma Belle Bowman Crubaugh Cashill died on September 24, 1938. She was buried in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, also.

Andrew Edgar Cashill married Mary Etta Knab, on June 17, 1939. They had two children. Their last place of residence was O'Fallon, Illinois.
