Emma declared her age to be 18 years, single, and never previously married. (Another record indicates she was born on March 26, 1866. So, she was either 16 or 18 years of age when married.) She was born in Montgomery County, Indiana, at Waynetown.

They were: Millard Fillmore, born July 14, 1884; Oscar Sherman, born January 15, 1886; Florence Edna, born July 17, 1888; Clara Mae, born May 24, 1890; Leonard (Otto), born February 1892; Bertha Belle, born November 4, 1894; and Dewey, born September 1898.
Sometime, not long after the birth of Dewey, Emma ran away from home, deserting her husband and children. On April 14, 1902, she gave birth to a daughter, Ellen Mary, in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. The father of the child was Andrew Cashill. Andrew was born in Ireland on October 1, 1864. The surname of his father was McCall. His mother's maiden name was O'Cashill. Both were Irish natives. For some reason, Andrew took his mother's maiden name and changed it to Cashill when he migrated to America.
To all who inquired of her first husband, Emma simply replied, "He died in a flood."
Emma and Andrew had two more children, both born in East St. Louis: Emma Belle, aka Ella Connie Cashill, was born on February 12, 1905; Andrew Edgar Cashill was born on October 29, 1911.
Ellen Mary Cashill was married on November 24, 1921, to George John Prader.
They had three children. Ellen Mary died on July 9, 1972.
