William T. Smith of Hurdland Dead At 82, And Funeral Was Held Sunday
William T. Smith of Hurdland, a life-long resident and a barber there for years before his retirement, died at 6 o'clock Friday evening, Sept. 4, 1959, in a hospital at Kirksville. He had been ill only a few days and was 82 years old.
Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Easley Funeral Home in Hurdland. The Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville conducted the services and burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Hurdland.
Four sisters are left: Mrs. Ella McGlothlin and Mrs. Ethel Knaack of Hurdland and Mrs. Eliza Barnhill and Mrs. Lottie Holman of Kirksville.
A son of Uriah P. and Laura Pinkston Smith, Mr. Smith was born July 17 1877 on a farm west of Hurdland. A brother, Lee Smith, preceded Mr. Smith in death in 1946.
