He was married about 1939 to Esther Hastings (1923–2005), the daughter of Reverend Robert Marion Hastings (1873–1955) and his 2nd wife Wesley "Maude" (Davidson) Hastings (1898–1993).
A resident of Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, George was 64 years old when he passed away on January 30, 1979 and was buried in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
