She was married about 1939 to George Ralph Averitt (1914–1979), and he was the son of Claiborn Oscar Averitt (1878–1944) and Biddie Lee (Smith) Averitt (1879–1960).
A homemaker and a Baptist, Esther was 82 years old and a widow when she passed away in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama on November 14, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son Ronny Wayne Averitt, while survivors included two daughters, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee.
