Mrs. Mary Adams died at the residence of her son Joseph Adams, in Alma City at 8 o'clock last evening. She was 83 years of age. She leaves one son and a daughter, Mrs. Peter Maher, of North Mankato. Deceased's husband died two years ago. Mrs. Adams until a few years ago lived in Mankato, having resided here twenty-two years. The funeral will occur tomorrow from St. Peter and Paul's church in this city.• In 1852, Marie Maly and Joseph Adamec left Bohemia and journeyed with their three children to the United States. After spending a few years in the eastern part of the country, they went west to Wisconsin and farmed forty acres in Monroe County until about 1867, when they came to Minnesota, settling in Mankato. Their daughter Catherine had married Peter Maher in WI and to them were born five children. They farmed in Belgrade, Blue Earth. Their son Joseph J. had married Margaret Linnihan in Wisconsin, and to them were born 7 children. They farmed in Freedom, Waseca. They lost their youngest son Francis to typhus shortly after he mustered into the Second Minnesota in 1861. He died in Kentucky and is buried in the national cemetery of Cave Hill in Louisville, KY. The photo of Jozef and Marie is provided by Catherine Klugherz, a great granddaughter of Peter and Catherine Maher.
