From "A History of Chester, Illinois: 1829-1979", p 133, it gives that Launcey Adams, son of David, was one of the foremost agriculturists of Randolph County. The farm was located in the vicinity of the Randolph County Lake. Launcey Adams was married to Mary Elizabeth Livesy, daughter of Charles and Minerva (Smith) Livesy. Charles Livesy was one of the builders of the Covered Bridge.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams and children were members of the Presbyterian Church, supported the principles of the Republican party, and in social matters, connected with the American Legion of Honor. Stories are told about Jessie James spending the night and eating breakfast at neighboring farms. Launcey Adams once rode shotgun with his brother-in-law, John Douglas, to the Sparta Bank when Mr. Douglas had received an inheritance from Scotland.
